The interventions for the eradication of invasive alien species and the restoration of dune vegetation in the Villasimius SCI are now ongoing. The eradication of the Hottentot Fig, Acacia and Agave is almost complete.
The interventions are needed to make room for native species, facilitating the resumption of the vegetation and preveningt erosion of the dunes.
In the near future, the works of naturalistic engineering (triggering nuclei, windbreaker barriers and anti-erosion bio-nets) and plantation activities with native species will be realized.
The works will end before the summer.
