It is now available in the “Documents” area, the report on tourist awareness activities held this summer.
Managed for the second consecutive year by the cooperative DIOMEDEA, the activities were differentiated in information provision and direct involvement of tourists, through the establishment of information points and the organization of guided educational walks, and in recreational activities to children of the Comprehensive Institute, mainly based on boardgames and collective interaction games.
The information points, called “Islands”, have been prepared in three representative beaches of the project (Simius, Porto Giunco and Campulongu) as well as in that of Fortezza Vecchia, which although not affected by it, presented aspects of particular interest and importance to the initiative, due in particular to the presence of natural underwater barriers created by Posidonia, able to protect the coast from storm surges. In addition, further information islands have been set up in the town of Villasimius to disseminate the information material relating Res Maris to a wider audience while promoting the activities of the homonymous Club, dedicated to the protection of native flora from the spread of alien species.
The information and awareness campaign of was based not only on the distribution of gadgets, leaflets and brochures relating to the project initiatives, but also on the completion of questionnaires for a total of 467 completed questionnaires and 1,500 people reached. As part of the awareness campaign then, educational walks were carried out along the trail Porto Giunco, located on the eastern side of the peninsula of Capo Carbonara, walks which allowed tourists to learn more about the practical dimension of the project, thus realizing the beauty and, at the same time, the fragility of the coastal ecosystem of the area.

Significant finally, was the educational impact of recreational activities for children, which have raised the awareness of the younger generation on the environmental issues and conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, through the use of fun and engaging methods such as bardgames, drawing and team activities is concerning both local plants and animals and the risks posed by excessive human activity.
